Richard, I did a box trade today, for not a lot of money… if you look at it on my blog, what was up with the dip below, did that invalidate the box? Thanks

On DPTR? If the box was from 31.20 to 31.30, then the dip to 31.10 was the box play! It fell the same amount as the size of the box. But, a quick reversal back through the box will often run the other way, too. There are times when there is a fake-out, just like with triangle plays, and the breakout on the other side often works very well.

Yes, that was the box, I saw it drop and thought shit I missed it, but I had already draw the lines of the box and when it went the other way I went in, a little leary of it so I got out fast, for coffee money as you say, but it went to run on… I saw 2 other box plays today.. very interesting… I forgot the part about the size of the box is the dip… Thanks Richard…

Nothing wrong with coffee money. You can supposedly play the box in either direction, but I usually only play it if it goes the way I expected. If you haven’t seen it, check out some of my early box play posts, which talk about the setup in more detail. They are tagged “box-play”.
