Some thoughts, in no particular order…
- I can’t believe I didn’t realize that the index futures markets were open today. Sometimes I forget that the schedules are different from the cash markets.
- Now that I realize it, at 12:30 Eastern, the futures markets are apparently closed. At least the quotes on tradestation are not moving.
- Damn it. And to top it off, I will miss most of Tuesday’s bloodbath, or Tuesday’s fed bailout + bounce.
- Anyhow… Note to self: NEVER try to pick the bottom.
- Note to self: Take some time to fully comprehend the irony that freakin’ Tim Knight was long on index options going into this weekend.
- Note to self: If head does not explode during previous note to self, use any time left to finally investigate Kreslik.com. TRO seems like a cool guy.
- Although the itchy “cloud” is functionally no better than a couple long MAs in my opinion, it does have the advantage that you can see where it will be about 20 candles in advance.
- … which has the disadvantage that it eats up a lot of your chart space… which is why I made the amount of bars to plot the cloud ahead a configurable setting in my code. Right now I view about 5 or 6 bars of “future cloud” in case it is useful.

I had read that the markets would be open for two hours today. The EOT room wasn’t going to be open and I figured that volume would be low even if it were open. I didn’t bother.

Now that I have opened Multicharts I see that I had two system entries for this morning and both would have been profitable. Boy, I hope that my criteria continues working once I go live again.

I don’t follow TK that closely, but based on his reputation I assumed he was probably enjoying this. So I check his site expecting to see him gloating, and I couldn’t believe he was net long. Crazy!
Yeah, Michael, normally trading would probably have sucked today, but given the global drop in the markets the charts looked pretty smooth. I would have had a nice day.

My experience with TRO is that he may be a great trader and a good empiricist, when it comes to mentoring he’s impatient and condescending. Not everyone is a born teacher, and not everyone has to be either. I’m just sayin’. If you find his ideas of value (and I do) then expect to do your own learning and not get a lot of help out of him…
