Are you interested in tarot? I’ve using divination of various sorts for twenty years. My favorite online tarot reading is http://www.facade.com/tarot.

The irony is that they told me to get into trading and now it’s telling me to get out. Who said that the Universe doesn’t have a sense of humor?

  2. Mr. White Folks Says:

michael: LOL…to bad u couldn’t get it to tell u when to get in and out of positions..if u get that working, i’ll sign up myself

  3. jay Says:

Yeah let me know when you get that all set up. I’m interested too.

  4. Richard Says:

LOL so I go to that site, and ask “Should I Keep Trading?” and ask for a 3 fates spread (past/present/future). So it says:

    Past: Knight of Cups Appeal/challenge/opportunity

    Present: 10 of coins Riches/stability/safety

Future: Falling Tower Unexpected Events, Bankruptcy, Loss of safety/stability

    so funny!

    I hope…

To answer your question, I am interested in all kinds of crazy shit. I try to keep an open mind (unlike some *cough* tyro *cough*) and have fun with it. It so happens I met some tarot readers yesterday, and got invited to a gathering they are having next week. I ordered some cards and books last night. I’d like to know more about how it’s done, and what practitioners experience when they do it.

  6. Mr. White Folks Says:

r u meeting a lot of moms at these events? crazy, old lady poon

  7. jay Says:

I hear pagan chicks are hot.

  8. Richard Says:

Jay: new agey chicks tend to be less inhibited, but also tend to live by less strict rules with regard to body hair maintenance. So, it can be a trade-off.

  9. Mr. White Folks Says:

crazy, old lady poon w/1970’s bush

  10. Richard Says:

why do you keep calling them crazy?

  11. jay Says:

Richard: Can I get one with a 1980s bouffant in her special place?

  12. Richard Says:

sigh… you people obviously never get laid.

  13. jay Says:

If they can read palms and tarot and bones, can they read the @%#$# on my %$#! ?????

  14. Mr. White Folks Says:

jay: boufffant in her special place…LOL

  15. John Says:

In an unrelated comment not that im dissin miss cleo… i made 2 trades today using ninja trader 6 with a
mirus futures data feed for 1 2pt loss and 1 breakeven, but it was educational, everything was lined up pretty
nice we had a downward trendline break, stochastics were pretty much oversold, the price moved about my moving
averages and then i got this big down bar!! oh well… at least it wasn’t real money!

  16. Richard Says:

No worries, John, it was a pretty ugly looking day in ES, in my opinion. To be honest, I didn’t even make any trades today.

  17. jay Says:

Ninja is gooooood. Did you scalp or daytrade? I love the superDOM, and how you can plug in parameters and save them as profiles for different instruments and market conditions. Pretty sweet. So Mirus is a good futures broker?

  18. jay Says:

Ah, nevermind on the scalp question. I got it.

  19. Michael Lomker Says:

Richard, that was an interesting spread. The Tower is a major arcana transition card. They can’t always be taken literally but they usually shake up your life to one degree or another. Statistically any trader is going to go through rough patches–I think you’ve mentioned having a few of your own when you started out.

I personally closed my trading account. I’ve dropped about $6k, $2700 in losses and the rest fees. That’s about a 1/3rd of my capital right now, so I don’t consider myself adequately capitalized to continue with this. I’m a slow learner, it’d probably take me 6+ months of paper trading to find something consistently profitable and I don’t have the time/funds for that right now.

I’m going to keep my automated system account running and see how that goes. The tarot cards weren’t optimistic about that account, either. ;)

I recently read the book ‘Blink’ that discusses the subconscious mind and the impact that it can have on our actions without our conscious mind being aware of it. It is responsible from athletes doing super-human things while ‘In the Zone’ to our snap-judgment prejudices when we first meet someone.

I’m not a particularly religious person so my thinking on tarot is that it often reflects our dreams and fears. It’s harder to understand how a computerized tarot could be manipulated by your subconscious but with physical cards it is a real possibility. There’s also the matter of quite a bit of flexibility in interpretation.

I use divination as a means of meditation…sometimes I just can’t step back from my obsessions long enough be objective without some help.

  20. Mr. White Folks Says:

    michael: sorry to hear that

  21. Richard Says:

The tarot people I know say it “works” in a way that wouldn’t allow for computerized card selection. So, I just did that for a laugh. I think this topic is fascinating. I have my own thoughts on it, but I will keep that to myself until I have cards and have actually tried it.

Sorry to hear about your setback… true market warriors never quit, though… they just bide their time until their next attempt. :-) You could use ninja to record the market and play it back at night, maybe. 6 months isn’t so long, in the scheme of things.

  22. Michael Lomker Says:

Thanks, MWF. At the risk of melodrama, this is one of the lowest points in my life. I’ve never had such a long stretch where nothing went my way.

I have an interview with a temp company tomorrow but I’m not optimistic…I’ve been so focused on trading that I’m not on the cutting edge when it comes to my IT work. I just don’t have the brainpower to focus on more than a few things at a time.

  23. Mr. White Folks Says:

michael: no that’s not melodramatic…more than money, you’re losing a dream right now…i perfectly understand that…as richard said, u can always pick this up later..however, as u know, its very consuming on many levels

as an IT guy, u have much more brainpower than me…luckily, my job doesn’t require any

btw, whatever happened with that strategy to get 1 ES point and quit…i’m not busting balls here, i’m really curious…when i read thru his stuff, he said he had a technique to get back money when u were down…that sounded suspicious, but i didn’t subscribe…however, the idea of getting a quick point in the morning, and quitting for the day, made sense…my only problem is that i generally find better trades in the afternoon

was it your particular strategy or controlling emotions? i understand if u don’t want to go thru it right now, but i’m interested in what happened…and what u think were the causes…didn’t u also subscribe to eotpro? what did u think about that?
