StockInfo WordPress Plugin

This is a filter that scans your blog posts for text like:

then I bought Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO), and it went to the moon

... and it finds the stock tickr and makes a table at the bottom of your post with links to Yahoo! Finance, Google Finance, and StockTickr pages for those stocks.

The acceptable ways to tag a stock are:

If you don't want the text above to appear in your post, you can place it inside an html comment (< ! -- (Nasdaq: CSCO) -- >). The filter will find it, but it won't show up to your readers.

Where to Get This Plugin

You can always find the latest version of this program at: movethemarkets.com/richard/software/

Usage

Simply un-tar this package into your wp-content/plugins directory:

tar xzf stockinfo-1.0.tar.gz

... and turn on the plugin from your wp-admin screens. Any old posts that refer to stocks this way will get the table automatically. Many people use this format already because it matches Google Finance's way of locating blog posts about a stock in many cases.
