There’s no one like Tori Amos… this is a short song off Boys for Pele, and it’s rare to see a live performance with an actual brass section…

I remember when I bought this CD, at a barnes and noble bookstore, the cashier chick saw it, pointed at it, and said “YES,” like she was so excited to see it, and wanted to know how many times I’ve seen Tori in concert (the answer was “just once”). She’s got some rabid fans out there…

(lyrics are with the chords below, if you care)

Some fan-made video for Rasputina’s “Dig Ophelia” off the Thanks for the Ether disc. The downside is, no Melora. The upside is, good sound quality.

Rasputina, off of their Cabin Fever! disc. This is a live performance with pretty good quality:

I love the Rasputina version off Thanks for the Ether. I pretty much like everything off Thanks for the Ether, actually. All I could find on youtube was this live performance, which isn’t of very good quality (first line of the song is chopped off, for one thing):

Here’s a video of the original artist singing it, which I’d embed here, except the uploader has disabled that.

The premise is simple enough… take some object, put it in a blender, and see what happens. So strange… I love it! This guy is kinda creepy sometimes, the way he smiles while stuff blends up. There are a whole series of “will it blend?” episodes…

This is another single from Bush’s Razorblade Suitcase disc.

By Bush from their sophomore Razorblade Suitcase CD. This band made me laugh, because some of their songs were pretty good, but a lot of their following was girls that liked the pretty frontman.

This was their “artsiest” video… comes across kinda heavy-handed if you ask me. But I like the song.

From the abstract:

Dynamic languages like Python have gained significant popularity in mainstream … all ยป programming. To support their dynamic features, they are often interpreted. In scientific computing applications, this works well for prototyping, but often means that significant efforts must later be invested in building the “real” application. Our thesis is that dynamic languages like Python can be effectively compiled by translation to statically typed functional languages like OCaml. Not only that, but this approach is highly amenable to formal verification. This, in fact, entails developing a formal semantics for the dynamic language.

This talk will provide an overview of the new features introduced by concepts and how they will benefit C++ programmers. We will see how concepts can be used to express the core components of the C++ Standard (Template) Library, and explore some of the new capabilities that concepts bring to the C++ language.
