Save the Last Dance for Me

A song performed by Ben E. King and the Drifters, in 1959 or so, although they didn’t write it. Ben E. King is of course better known for co-writing and performing the song Stand By Me, but I like this one as well. Very simple to play.

        A
You can dance every dance with the guy who gives you the eye
                E
  Let him hold you tight

You can smile every smile for the man who held your hand
                   A
  'Neath the pale moonlight
                      D
Chorus: But Don't forget who's taking you home
                          A
And in whose arms you're gonna be
          E A
So darling, save the last dance for me

  A
Oh I know that the music is fine like sparkling wine
               E
  Go and have your fun

Laugh and sing but while we're apart
                                 A
Don't give your heart to anyone

Chorus
        A E
Baby don't you know I love you so
                                  A
Can't you feel it when we touch
                           E
I will never never let you go
                               A
Cause I love you oh so much

        A
You can dance, go and carry on
                                        E
Till the night is gone and it's time to go

If he asks if you're all alone can he take you home
                 A
  You must tell him no
