Pretty nice speech by Randy Pausch. He’s got that scenario where you find out that you have 3 months of good health left (pancreatic cancer). The speech is about achieving your dreams, and helping others to achieve theirs. Pretty inspirational, I think.
A talk by Matthieu Ricard (a Buddhist monk) about the nature of authentic happiness. Before becoming a monk, he was a scientist, and he currently studies the effects of meditation on the brain.
I have no idea when or where this came from, but it was enjoyable. It’s about violence, culture, and the media (same themes as a lot of his songs). He’s good at coming up with catchy phrases (or at least, finding them and repeating them):
“Is adult entertainment killing our children, or is killing our children entertaining for adults?”
A video about what it’s like to have Buddhist parents. I thought it was interesting that all of the kids were either not religious or Atheists. I guess Buddhist parents don’t pressure their kids much to follow in their footsteps. I bet, as they get older, at least some of them consider Buddhism as an option… it’s really more of a philosophy than most religions… no creator God or anything…
